I just rode in from San Antonio and, boy, are my legs tired

I have been feeling pretty run down all week. Even after not riding on Wednesday my legs have been stiff for most of my training rides. Curious...

I am planning a repeat of last week's 44 miler unless I get a second or third wind. Then I will push it to 50 miles... Give or take.

My first group ride is in Poth, TX in two weeks. It is 44 miles and that no longer scares me... Unless Poth fails to provide Starbucks at the 24 mile point. Tomorrow will be mostly about discipline and mental toughness. My short ride this week was on the order of 16 miles. If I can keep from burning my legs up on Toutant-Beauregard everything should be fine. Pain is temporary, glory is forever :)

San Antonio Businesses on Twitter

Lately I've come across more and more San Antonio businesses on Twitter. Hooray! It's great to see San Antonio businesses take advantage of social media tools so they can reach out to the community at large as well as to their customers and prospe

The ride

I know everyone is going to get sick of hearing about "the ride" but that's the beauty of the internet... if you don't like it turn to something else.

After the 30 mile ride last week I had serious doubts about putting in 100 miles on the ride.  However, the next several days really felt better than I expected.  My legs were tired, but responsive and not sore.  I think 100 miles is definitely in range now.

Yesterday, I put in a 44 mile ride.  I think the the late afternoon rides I have been putting in have really drained my legs.  While the 44 miles did not seem that hard, this afternoon I did a 9 mile recovery ride that pretty well wore me out.  It did help to work the leg muscles and I feel better overall, but riding in 100+F weather for three of the past four days really seems to have sapped my strength.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out over the next few days.  According to my training plan (such as it is) I can do the 44 miler again next weekend and still be on track.  However, I might try to push it to 50 if I feel good.

I will add the link to the 44 mile route once I have uploaded it to MapMyRide.

By the way, if I haven't annoyed you too much on the other sites, please consider giving to the National MS Society via this link.  It will keep me from having to really beg as we get closer to October 3, 2009.

Thanks.

Posterous | Re: Test post - Please ignore

I have reviewed the test post using Zemanta and have to say that while I like the idea, I think that adding links and photos should not be that hard without the add-on.  Further, I can do it without the ad.  There is probably a premium version that takes care of this, but I don't plan on posting often enough to make it worthwhile.  Thanks for the try-out, Zemanta.

This is simply a post to test out the Zemanta add-on within Firefox.  It is no Scribefire, but for occasional posts it seems adequate.  And I think this site definitely qualifies as a place of occasional posts.
Zemanta helped me add links & pictures to this email. It can do it for you too.
